Course Description
The 25K course showcases some of the most unique and engaging terrain in Rothrock State Forest, offering a rewarding experience for runners who enjoy adventure. The route includes several significant climbs and steep descents, beginning with Spruce Gap, an 800-foot ascent in under a mile. Runners will encounter a varied mix of terrain, including rocky stretches of ridge top along the iconic Mid-State Trail, rhododendron tunnels, flowing single-track, and scenic stream crossings. The Shingletown Cliffs offer a playful mix of boulders and ledges that call for focus, fortitude and steady footing. After a lively descent on Old Laurel Run Trail, runners retrace their steps back to the finish line at a refreshing pond, the perfect place to celebrate with a post-race dip.

Mandatory Gear

- Each runner should save the organization's safety phone numbers
- Personal collapsible cup (15 cl / 5 oz minimum)
- Minimum water supply of 1/2 liter
Should the race management team add onto the mandatory gear due to weather conditions, please reference the cold and hot weather kits outlined in the Race Regulations Guide. You will be notified via email if either kit is required during race week. Runners are expected to pack both kits for race weekend in the event one of these kits needs to be implemented.

Hot weather kit (may be required by the organization, depending on weather conditions)

- Sunscreen, recommendation: minimum sun protection factor (SPF) 50
- Minimum water supply: 2 liters
Cold weather kit (may be required by the organization, depending on weather conditions)
- Protective eyewear ***
- 2nd warm layer in addition to jacket recommendation
- Sturdy, closed-toe trail-running shoes (minimalist or ultralight shoes Not recommended)
- Beanie (or multifunctional neck gaiter)
- Warm gloves (waterproof strongly recommended)
- Waterproof overpants
*** it is possible to use the same glasses if they are suitable both for the sun and bad weather (such as glasses with photo-chromatic lenses)
